People not from here seem to get a snicker out of the fact that we have a Transylvania University. It's been around a while, and has nothing to do with Bram Stoker or Dracula. :)

This building is the original Lexington Public Library, from 1905 to 1989.

Gratz Park

This beautiful statue is in Gratz Park, which is next to Transylvania University, downtown Lexington. Strange that I've never even seen this park before. We went there a few weeks ago for the art festival that is held there every spring.

A bird house in a tree a few houses down the road.

There's way too many of these around, as a result of the storm a few weeks ago. So many trees were damaged that a lot of people are just cutting down all of their trees. Very sad.

Taxi

There are hardly any taxis in this area. Whether that's because everybody has a car, or because nobody visits here, I don't know. But it's very rare to see taxis. As it happens, there's a taxi driver who lives just down the road from us, so I see this one several times a week.

Pave the world

The business behind my office has bulldozed yet another piece of their land. I'm not sure what they're planning to do with it. Apparently, neither are they, since they did this more than a week ago, and haven't shown any signs of doing anything more with it since then. And they haven't finished building the two buildings they're already working on.

Tire swing

There's a fabulous tree (and tire swing) in an open grassy area on Stone Road in Lexington. A new Montessori school is being built on that plot of land, and we feared the tree would be removed, so we went at the end of the summer and had a photo session there.

As it turns out, they fenced off the tree in order to preserve it during the construction process. I was so glad.

Fairy

I think she looks an awful lot like a fairy, though I'm not sure she'd appreciate hearing that, or my saying it in a public forum.

We spent an afternoon at Waveland State Historic Site and got lots of interesting pictures.

Ok, so it's not a picture of Wilmore, nor of the surrounding areas. It is, however, a picture of us *enjoying* the surrounding areas. We went driving one Saturday to explore the back roads of Jessamine county, and we got all sorts of fun pictures. This was one of my favorites.

The reservoir

The reservoir on Asbury College campus. A favorite walking, sitting, laying in the sun spot during the summer, the sycamores are now bare, the water icy, the ground frozen.

Waterfall

I like the effect you can get with a long exposure of a waterfall. This is (I think) the last photo from the Raven Run nature preserve. Tomorrow we'll have some other subject.

Barbed Wire

This is all that's left of a barbed wire fence that, I presume, marked the edge of someone's farm a long time ago. The tree has formed itself to the fence, now long gone.
