Tire Swing

This is in a field just a few miles from home, and just across the highway from work. We took a bunch of photos, but this was my favorite one. I love the colors in this.

Pink belltower

Yes, it's scanned from an 18 year old print. Valentine's day, 1990. We (Eddie and I) snuck out onto the roof of the administration building and taped red theater spotlight gels to the spotlights pointing at the bell tower. When the lights came on at dark, viola, a pink bell tower. It lasted all of 30 minutes before security went up there and took them down. But we got photographic evidence.

Tastebuds, take III

This is just a really cool place. I can't resist another picture. One of the booths where one might enjoy that cherry soda with chocolate ice cream.

Bee

I just love this camera. That's the center of an echinacea flower. The detail is just fabulous.

Butterfly

A butterfly alighting on one of the myriad flowers in front of the house pictured in the Wilmore Daily Photo a couple of days ago.

Rolling wildflowers

I won't name the locale, but an awful lot of people from Wilmore will recognize this house. The picket fence out front is almost completely lost in a rolling sea of perennials every summer.

Mail's in

I don't know why, but I've always loved these mailboxes. I'm sure their owners were eyeing me suspiciously. I've photographed them numerous times over the years, though I have nothing to show for it since that was all pre-digital, and I've no idea where my hard copies are.

Hands-on care

I had NO idea there was a massage place in downtown Wilmore.

Provender & Prescriptions II

The place where one noms the aforementioned nosh.

Provender & Prescriptions

Sim's Drug Store was an icon of Wilmore, dating back three generations. I'm not sure if the current pharmacist there is a Sim or not, but the pharmacy is still up and running. Right there in the store is an old fashioned soda fountain, Tastebuds, where you can get a cherry soda with chocolate ice cream (my personal favorite.)

A little bit of Texas

Union Station Texas Style Barbeque is the newest restaurant addition to historic downtown Wilmore.

A look at the fare Union Station has to offer:

Euro Wine Bar

Euro is a new establishment in Nicholasville, run by the owner of the Wine Shop a couple of doors south on Main Street. Several of my paintings are currently hanging on the walls of this classy wine bar. That's one of them in the background.

Hiding

Playing hide and seek, two kids hide in the slide at Centennial Park. Surprisingly, they were found pretty fast.

Stonehenge

Yes, Stonehenge is actually located in Wilmore, strangely enough. These stones are at the entrance to Centennial Park, which is on the Ichthus land on the north end of Wilmore.

Fence

A number of houses in Wilmore have picket fences around their yards. This one struck me as particularly picturesque. I don't imagine the owner feels the same way.

Bubbles

The kids were blowing bubbles this week, and making chalk paintings.

All gone ...

The Last Bite

The last spoonful is the best.
Don't clamor for another
and miss the moment.
You have to savor it, enjoy
every drop as it warms
on your tongue, sweetens
every corner of your mouth, melts
into a memory.

Penguins

It was amazing how fast these critters moved. These penguins are at the Newport Aquarium in Newport Kentucky, which is the Kentucky side of the river from Cincinnati.

Determination

I liked the look of determination in these guys' eyes. This was right after the July 4 parade. I think they were on their way to lunch.

Hanging plants

For much of the year there are hanging plants on Main Street and Lexington Avenue, and a truck drives by daily to water them.
