Missing trees

These trees are now missing. We took this photo a month or so ago, and since then, all but the one big tree in the middle have been ripped down in order to widen highway 68.

On Nicholasville road, just before Southland Drive (heading north) there's a tiny cemetery on the left, where most of the headstones are deteriorated beyond recognition. This one says only "MEMORY"

Wilmore and Environs

Due to the difficulty I'm having getting interesting photos when limiting myself to just Wilmore, I'm going to expand the area to include Lexington and Nicholasville. In this way, it'll ensure that I keep going with the site, rather than abandoning it after a few months.

Besides, some of us consider Lexington and Nicholasville suburbs of Wilmore anyways. ;-)

Solomon's Porch

When I was in college, this was Fletcher's, a butcher shop. Now it's Solomon's Porch, a deli, and coffee shop, where you can also see the work of local artists.

There are hundreds of these enormous multi-million-dollar homes going in on land that was horse farms 10 years ago. I can't figure out where these people work, but perhaps they work in the construction industry. This particular house has FIVE garages. Oy.

Francis Asbury

There's two schools in town named after this guy - Francis Asbury. The statue stands at the first traffic light as you come into town.

This cemetery is across the road from where I work. I remember being afraid walking past it as a kid.
